Quality interpreting backed by service, technology and know-how

Interpreting services

Language Connect provides foreign language interpreters for a wide range of situations to locations all around the UK and internationally. Whether you need interpreters for exhibitions, a court interpreter or a conference interpreter, we can offer highly-qualified, professional language interpreters within short notice.

Language Connect provides regular interpreter services in:

  • Simultaneous Interpreting - the interpreter speaks whilst simultaneously listening to and comprehending the next sentence. Their interpretation is usually relayed over headphones at large conferences, media launches and TV broadcasts, or whispered in smaller surroundings such as courtrooms.
  • Consecutive Interpreting - perhaps the most common form of face-to-face interpreting, used in small formal and informal meetings. The interpreter waits for a suitable break before interpreting for the audience.
  • Telephone Interpreting - when arranging for an interpreter to get to a location is not feasible the next best option is for them to be available over the telephone.

and depending on the formality of the occasion:

  • Face-to-Face Interpreting - all the forms of interpreting where language interpreters and speakers are face-to-face.
  • Conference Interpreting - a conference interpreter will often interpret simultaneously to the audience via specialist audio equipment so that the speaker does not need to pause or be interrupted.
  • Ad-hoc Interpreting - where the language interpreter only aims to interpret the most pertinent points of the speaker's address.

Our language interpreters are matched to an assignment's requirements on the basis of their interpreting skills, language fluency and specific industry experience. The interpreting skills needed for a particular assignment vary by situation.

All Language Connect interpreters have appropriate language qualifications and possess at least 2 years' interpreting experience within their specialist industry field. There are several interpreter qualifications and accreditations that we use partly to select the most skilled interpreters for an assignment. For instance, for all court interpreting assignments our interpreters have to hold the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) or be registered on the National Register of Public Service Interpreters.

As a leading interpreting company in the UK, we provide interpreters to hundreds of assignments for private and public sector organisations including the NHS. We also supply British Sign Language trained interpreters.
